CSM course in Reading

From November 2016, we’ll be running Certified Scrum Master courses in the Thames Valley (the first one is in Reading)

Hang on! Haven’t I always said that experience is more important than certification?!

I still believe that … so I’ve teamed up with one of the best trainers in the UK to deliver a course in a way that creates experience (while at the same time embedding the theory in your brain). The workshop is a two-day hands-on, playful, interactive experience that embeds the theory of agile and Scrum: it hardly feels like you’re learning the theory of agile and Scrum and you walk away feeling like you’ve actually experienced them. We also ensure that attendees can talk through their individual circumstances to understand how the experience fits into their real-life scenarios.

As Mike Cohn said back in 2011, “The value is in the training, not the certification itself” (ref pm.stackexchange)

If that’s true, why do so many companies still ask for certification when advertising jobs?

As Rolf Molich said in a talk at UX Oxford last week, certs like this are “proof of eventually having had something to do with the topic”. They are, in effect, proof that you’ve at least been exposed to the basics. We hope that our course is the most enjoyable way for people to prove this. It’s also in a 5-star hotel so it should be one of the most pleasant methods too!

Our first CSM course will be held on 14-15 November 2016 in the 5-star Forbury Hotel, Reading. An early bird discount is available until 14 October. Go to our training information pages for more information.
