“The problem is”, said the exec, “I keep getting told, by the team, that they can’t do what I’m asking because it’s not agile.”
Lots of questions started filling my head: what was she asking? What are their processes? Is the team hiding behind agile to fob her off? Then it hit me! She could understand enough about agile to challenge her team in about 3 minutes. I gave her one URL and told her to read the two pages that contained all the information she needed: 4 core values + 12 principles.
She read them. Okay, so she may not be an “expert”, but she now has enough to understand why she’s not being agile. She can now establish whether agile is being used as an excuse.
