Dr David Lowe

Programme designer and facilitator

David Lowe is a coach, trainer and author who works with individuals, teams and organisations to develop stronger practice, better conversations and meaningful change. Over the past two decades he has worked with organisations ranging from start-ups to global companies, including Ford, Bayer, Unilever and the UK Government Digital Service.

David is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation and recently completed a doctorate in Coaching and Mentoring at Oxford Brookes University. His research explored the experience and meaning of humour in coaching conversations and how it can deepen trust, insight and learning.

Known for his engaging and practical style, David brings together coaching, facilitation, mentoring and training to help practitioners expand their range and operate with greater awareness and confidence in complex environments. Through the ICE-AC programme he works with experienced agile practitioners who want to deepen their impact and develop mastery across the relational disciplines of agile coaching.

Who is this programme for?

This programme is designed for experienced Agile Coaches, Scrum Masters and change leaders who already work with teams or organisations and want to deepen their coaching practice. It is particularly suited to practitioners who want to expand their range across coaching, facilitation, mentoring and training, and who are interested in developing a more reflective and relational approach to agile coaching.

Participants are typically already working as Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, delivery leads or transformation leads. You do not need to have the job title “Agile Coach”, but you should already be working with teams and organisations in a way that allows you to apply the learning during the programme.

Yes. The programme is delivered live online using interactive sessions rather than lectures. Participants work together in a cohort, with a strong emphasis on discussion, practice and reflection.

This format allows people from different locations to participate while still creating a rich learning environment.

The programme runs over approximately six to seven months and includes a series of live online sessions. In addition to the sessions themselves, participants are encouraged to reflect on their practice and experiment with new approaches in their day-to-day work.

Most participants find the programme manageable alongside their normal professional responsibilities.

This programme is designed to support practitioners on the pathway toward ICAgile’s Expert in Agile Coaching (ICE-AC) recognition. ICAgile expert certifications are awarded based on demonstrated capability rather than attendance alone, so participants may also need to submit evidence of their practice as part of ICAgile’s assessment process.

The programme helps you develop the skills and experience needed for that journey.

Many professional courses are delivered as short workshops or lecture-style training. The ICE-AC programme is designed differently. It runs as a cohort over several months so that participants can practise new approaches in their real work, reflect on what happens, and return with insights and questions.

The cohort format also allows participants to learn from each other’s experiences, receive feedback, and develop deeper capability over time rather than simply learning concepts in a short period.

For many participants, the relationships and insights developed through the cohort become one of the most valuable aspects of the programme.

Cohorts are intentionally kept relatively small so that participants have the opportunity to practise, receive feedback and engage meaningfully with each other. This helps create a learning environment where people feel safe to experiment, reflect and grow their practice.

Many Agile courses focus primarily on frameworks, tools or certification preparation. This programme takes a different approach. It focuses on developing the human and relational capabilities required to work effectively with individuals, teams and organisations.

Participants explore coaching presence, facilitation, mentoring and training as complementary disciplines, and learn how to move fluidly between them depending on the situation. The cohort format also creates a learning environment where participants challenge, support and learn from each other’s real-world experiences.

Because the programme is cohort-based, live participation is strongly encouraged. The discussions, practice exercises and peer feedback are an important part of the learning experience.
